In India, National Science Day (NSD) is celebrated every year on 28 February to commemorate the discovery of the 'Raman Effect'. On the auspicious occasion of this "National Science Day", the Department of Basic Science and Humanities of UEMK, is going to organize a " turncoat debate" competition for the 1st year B.Tech students, on 28th February ( Monday) from 1.15 pm onwards at B2 LG 1.7. All respected faculties and IEM-UEM family members are cordially invited to attend the event.

“It is better to debate a question without settling it than to settle a question without debating it” - Joseph Joubert Communication is a fundamental need for human beings to sustain in the world. Having good communication skills play a major role in developing the overall personality or to make a person successful. Debate is one of the academic activities that give students creative room to express what they feel & share their different opinions. It can be favorable towards the topic or it can be non-favorable also.. The length and breadth of knowledge that they gain through this is simply unparalleled. The importance of debate can be easily analyzed if we focus on its benefits. Participating in debates build up the confidence of the students to speak to people in public, develop critical thinking, how to think and communicate under pressure, as they have gone through the arguments in their lives. Having a clear mindset is very essential , because it enables us to think to a greater extent and debate broadens thinking capacity. Department of Law (IIIJS) of University of Engineering and Management, Kolkata is going to organize a "DEBATE COMPETITION" for the students of 6th semester at our University Campus. IIIJS (Law Department) of University of Engineering and Management, Kolkata always thrives to cater to the all-round development of their students. The main focus of this department has always been on improving the Soft Skills amongst it's students. With this intention in mind an "EXTEMPORE COMPETITION" has been organized by the Department of Law for the students of 4th semester (2020 Batch) on 17th February, 2022 (Thursday). The objective of this competition is to make the students confident and better orators so that they can fearlessly express their views on any topic. Extempore is an excellent way to assist the students not only in spontaneous thinking but also in asserting their creative ideas with precision.
