University of Engineering and Management (UEM), Jaipur successfully conducted a one-day IPR Awareness Workshop and Training Program on March 22, 2025, to spread awareness about Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) among students, faculty, and professionals. The session commenced with the traditional lamp lighting ceremony, followed by the opening address by Prof. Dr. Biswajoy Chatterjee, Vice-Chancellor, UEM Jaipur. He warmly welcomed all dignitaries and highlighted UEM Jaipur's achievements in patent filings, emphasizing the role of deep technical knowledge in enhancing patent success. Shri V. Saravana Kumar, IAS, Secretary, Department of Science and Technology (DST), Rajasthan, spoke about the evolution of patent and copyright laws in India, the importance of protecting trade secrets, and the IPR policy of Rajasthan. Prof. Dr. Pradeep Kumar Sharma, Registrar, UEM Jaipur, expressed gratitude to the DST, Rajasthan, for funding the workshop. He emphasized the importance of understanding the intricacies of patent filing. The technical sessions witnessed an enlightening discourse by distinguished experts: Mr. Manish Soyal, Examiner of Patents and Designs at the Intellectual Property Office, New Delhi, provided a comprehensive overview of IPR, covering patents, trademarks, copyrights, and plant variety protection (SCLD). Mr. Govind Sharma, former Chief of the National Research Development Corporation (NRDC), Ministry of Science and Technology, elaborated on the importance of patents, the filing process, and real-world case studies showcasing the impact of effective IP strategies. Mr. Kumar Tushar Srivastava, Founder and Managing Partner, Advocate, and Registered Indian Patent and Trademark Agent, conducted a detailed session on copyrights and trademarks, discussing their legal frameworks, dispute resolution, and their role in branding and business growth. Prof. Dr. G. Uma Devi, Associate Dean, Engineering, UEM Jaipur, delivered an insightful session on Industrial Design and Geographical Indications (GI). She discussed Geographical Indications, elaborating on famous GI-tagged products available in the market and the registration process for obtaining a GI tag. The workshop was highly interactive, with participants actively engaging in Q&A sessions and discussions. The event concluded with Dr. Govind Rai Goyal expressing esteemed gratitude towards DST Rajasthan, participants, guests, speakers, and all committee members for their valuable contributions. The Department of Civil Engineering, University of Engineering and Management (UEM), Jaipur has successfully organized a 3-Days Pre-Industrial Training & Workshop Phase-I on "Practical Problems & their Solutions in RC, Hydraulic and Foundation Structures" for final year students from Civil Engineering department. The event took place from March 10 to March 12, from 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM. The students had the opportunity to learn: Day 1, Resource person: Prof. (Dr.) Vishwajeet Khan Determination of shear strength parameters for C-Phi soil Estimation of settlement due to consolidation Design of shallow foundation and retaining wall Day 2, Resource person: Prof. (Dr.) Pinakshi Biswas Hydrokinetics in close conduits Design of piping network Design of hydraulic structures Day 3, Resource person: Prof. Paulami Das Choudhury Design of isolated and combined footing under axial load and biaxial moment The students participated actively and provided very positive feedback about the training program. The event was successful because of the constant support of Prof. Subhro Chakraborty, HOD Dept. of Civil Engineering and the enthusiasm of the resource persons in imparting their knowledge on special topics. In this Hackathon, participants and ethical hackers are coming from all across the country, literally from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, and Gujarat to the North-East, and competing in this 36 hour hackathon. They have also associated with companies like Commudle, CSS Battle, Interview Cake, FlatLogic, SecureDapp, Devdock, Nukhba, DoraHacks, Johnathan Chiang, GitHub, CodeCrafters.io, Balsamiq, Offsec, O'Reilly, AoPSOnline,ZSecurity, Interview Buddy, TechSoc, Microsoft Azure, ReSkill_I, Azure Developer Community, .Xyz, Appwrite, SybGen, BlockPen and GlobalHues. Industrialists and corporates from across the country are also coming to the Hackathon to judge the competition and witness this Mega event. Start-up competitions will also be held as part of this Hackathon, and will be judged by representatives from the Ministry and the corporates. Top poets and storytellers of the country came together, forming an esteemed gathering of literary minds, scholars, and creative voices for an enriching day of discussions, readings, and reflections on its 1st day. The theme of the event was “A Journey from Puranas to New Stories," capturing the essence of bridging classical narratives with contemporary storytelling. The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at the University of Engineering and Management (UEM), Jaipur, successfully conducted a five-day Short-Term Training Program (STTP) on "MATLAB for Scientific Computations" from March 3rd to March 7th. The program was designed for second- and third-year students from the Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Electronics and Communication Engineering departments, with sessions held daily from 3:30 PM to 4:45 PM. The sessions were led by Dr. Vishal Kumar Pandey, Associate Professor, ECE Department, who extends his heartfelt gratitude to Prof. (Dr.) Pradeep Kumar Sharma, Registrar, and Dr. Prashant Ranjan, H.O.D., ECE, for the opportunity to conduct this training. Special appreciation is also extended to Dr. Ankit Kumar Sharma, H.O.D., Electrical Engineering, and Dr. Umesh Gurnani, H.O.D., Mechanical Engineering, for their support in encouraging student participation. We are proud to announce that Taniya Kanwar, a B.Tech 1st-year CSE student at University of Engineering and Management (UEM), Jaipur, has been awarded a Scholarship Grant of ₹4 lakhs (₹1 lakh per year) under the Deutsche Bank Engineering Scholarship for Girls Education program. She is among 42 students selected from various colleges in Jaipur City and one of 205 female candidates across India from the 2024 admission batch to receive this prestigious scholarship. The felicitation ceremony was held at the Deutsche Bank Jaipur office, where Dilip Khandelwal (CEO - Deutsche India), Simriti Sharma (Managing Director, Deutsche Bank), and Manish Bansal (CSR Head, Deutsche Bank) presented the scholarship recipients with an official Letter of Scholarship Grant and an HP laptop. The event was attended by the students' guardians and representatives from their respective institutions, celebrating this significant achievement.
