Dr. Arti Agarwal, City University, London addressed the students of IEM and UEM OSA (Optical Society of America Chapter). The whole thing was funded by OSA. The program was broken up in 3 sessions. First session was held at Calcutta University, second session was held at IEM Kolkata and the third session at UEM Kolkata.  

Ministry of Communication & Information Technology, Govt. of India, has recognized Kishlay Raj, student of IEM, for developing "Chilla" - a SCREAM ALERT Android women safety App that can detect scream. Congratulations Kishlay! For more information about the App, visit: https://lnkd.in/f5P44Ya  

4th ASSE India Chapter Professional Development Conference 2016 was held at the IEM-UEM campus in association of IEM-UEM group and ASSE (American Society of Safety Engineers). Research papers were displayed and presented in the event and there was a delegation from all throughout the country. IEM-UEM current batch passing out students Soham Banerjee, Shreya Paramanik and Manu Narsaria have opened their own company called Renderbit Technologies. The company has been awarded one amongst the first 25 startups in the prestigious TATA First Dot National Competition. This year there have been 25 campus status by the IEM-UEM group, which is a rare in any other Institute or University all across the country.

The reasearch paper presentation contest was held at IEM-UEM campus, and students from all over the country participated. It was a platform to encourage young students to the field of international research.

The IEM-UEM group has its alumni in several top positions in almost all countries throughout the world. There are several more alumni to follow in the Hall of Fame.

His areas of research are:- 1) Weak interactions, with specific emphasis on neutrino physics 2) Beyond the standard model, including left-right symmetric model and grand unification 3) Particle properties in material medium, commonly (and inappropriately) known as finite temperature field theory 4) Particle properties in background magnetic fields 5) Astrophysics and Cosmology related to Particle Physics 6) Linearized theory of gravity
